| Chinese Kangxi Blue and White | | The most sophisticated blue and white wares were produced during the Kangxi period (1662-1722). The drawing can be very detailed and fluid, some of the original designs very imaginative and the underglaze blue can be a brilliant sapphire colour. A great many of the designs on Qing porcelain were inspired by novels such as 'The Three Kingdoms'. from the Ming period.

| Chinese Famille-Rose Tea Wares | | This section contains a large quantity of Chinese famille-rose tea wares, which for the most part compared with early European ceramics are still incredably cheap and very decorative. We can supply special teabow and saucer stands enabling very decorative displays to be made for a comparatively small sum of money. Like most Chinese famille-rose wares the best pieces were made during the the first half of the 18th century. |

| | Chinese Blue & White Qing Porcelain | | This section comprises mainly of pieces from the Qianlong period (1736-1795). At this time vast quantities of Chinese porcelain were being exported to Europe. The Chinese port of Nanking gives its name to many of the later blue and white pieces. A popular theme for these pieces was known as the 'Willow Pattern' which shows lakeside landscapes with pagodas, houses and trees. This design was widely used on English pottery and porcelain in the first half of the 19th century. |

| Chinese Qing Blue and White Tea Wares | | Chinese late 17th and 18th century teabowls and saucers were copied by nearly every European factory. Curiously enough the copies are often many times the price of the originals. It is still possible to buy a very fine Kangxi blue and white teabowl and saucer for a little as £200 to £300. It is currently a very good area to collect at modest prices. In our opinion prices for such items will go up considerably in the next few years.
We can supply specially-designed display stands.

Technical Note on Dutch Delft
It is worth noting that kilns of a new design were introduced into the Netherlands in the middle of the 18th century. These kilns did away with a lot of the kiln faults and also enabled coal to be used instead of wood. Nearly all the delft from about 1750 onwards has a fairly even glaze.
