Japanese imari saucer dish, c.1720 decorated with a bird on rocks by a river with a pine tree. The border decorated with crysanthemums and other flowers, with lobed panels containing phoenixes. The reverse decorated with scrolling peonies. This design was closely copied by the Meissen factory. See the Oriental Ceramic Society "Porcelain for Palaces" p.224. Diameter: 23.5cm, 9 1/4in.. Condition: some wear to decoration.
