Pair of Chinese blanc de chine equestrian figures, 17th century, probably late Ming, each rider sitting astride a horse standing foursquare on a base carved with cloud scrolls, height: approx. 7in., 17.8cm; condition: one with torso re-stuck, small chip to har, frit to corner of horse's ear and chip to end of stick, the other with chip to end of stick and minute frits. Chinese blanc de chine figure of Eve, Kangxi (1662-1722), standing upon a rockwork base, holding a cloth around her waist and bare from the waist up, with her hair parted in two, height: 9 1/16in., (23 cm.); condition: tiny chip to one foot. Similar figures were recorded in the Dresden Inventory of 1721. For a similar figure see the British Museum Catalogue, no: 1980,0728.14; Howard and Ayers, China for the West, Vol. 1, fig.54, p. 93; Donnelly, Blanc de Chine, pl. 121c, p. 94.
