The Captain Hatcher Collection refers to the historic "Hatcher Cargo," an immense hoard of 17th-century Chinese porcelain salvaged from a shipwrecked Chinese junk in the South China Sea by explorer Captain Michael Hatcher in 1983.The salvaged cargo, consisting of approximately 25,000 unbroken porcelain pieces, was sold by Christie's Amsterdam across a landmark series of four highly publicised auctions between 1984 and 1985
