Small Chinese famille-rose jardinière, Qianlong (1736-95), with flaring rim, painted in overglaze enamels and gilt with butterflies and other insects amongst scattered foliate blooms and fruits including lotus and pomegranate, one side with an unfurling scroll decorated in gilt with prunus and cracked ice design, and the other with a large pink tobacco leaf, the interior and exterior of the rim with narrow bands in iron red and gilt detail.
