Magnificent Japanese kakiemon vase, Edo period (1670-1690), of oviform with short ring neck, decorated in iron red, green, yellow aubergine, blue and black enamels and underglaze blue circumferential lines to the foot and shoulder, with three panels divided by scrolling foliage and peonies, depicting figures standing among rocks, bamboo and chrysanthemums with one figure under a parasol, the other with a fan looking up at a bird on a stem of bamboo, SOLD

condition: neatly consolidated.
In a painting on the ceiling by Augstin Terwesten there is a vase of this shape and pattern, the ceiling was completed in 1695,
