Large Chinese octagonal famille rose tureen and cover, Qianlong (1736-95), with moulded hare-head handles, the body decorated with sprays of flowers issuing from rockwork, the shallow domed cover similarly decorated with floral sprays above a lambrequin border to the rim and flame finial within a border of gilt cracked ice pattern against an orange ground, the spreading foot similarly decorated with a wide band of cracked ice interspersed by shaped cartouches containing flowers to the canted corners; diameter of basin: 11 ¾ in. (30 cm.), height: 6 ¾ in. (17 cm.); condition: good; tiny fritting to foot, underside of handles, minute chips to underside of cover.
