Thai Bronze head of Buddha Gautama Sakyamuni, 16th century, shown with small haircurls covering his head and ushnisa, with a fine band separating his forehead from his hairdress. SOLD
Dimensions:
Height excluding plinth: 15.2cm. (6in.); height including stand: 25.2cm. (10in.)
Condition:
Plasterwork exposed at base of neck, general wear inkeeping with age
Notes:
The large flame on top of his head, symbolising his spirituality, is missing. The elongated earlobes of this example refer to the royal background of the historical Buddha, and the heavy earrings worn during his youth.
