Japanese Arita blue and white plate, Genroku period (1688-1704), decorated to the central roundel with a riverside scene, a reclining figure holding a fan and leaning on a table beside a pot of plantain, accompanied by a boy standing under a pine tree gesturing to the sky, the cavetto divided into three vignettes containg willow, plum and peony, with scrolls and divided by stylised flowerheads.
