Chinese famille rose plate, Yongzheng (1723-35), decorated in the centre with a pair of mandarin ducks swimming amongst lotus flowers and water weeds, the border with the Eight Immortals crossing the sea on their magic vehicles amongst crashing waves, diameter: 8 7/8in. 22.5cm. Pairs of mandarin ducks symbolize marital fidelity or harmony as they are said to mate for life. SOLD
