Chinese famille verte gu beaker vase, Kangxi (1662-1722), of archaistic bronze form, the central bulbous section with ogee-shaped cartouches containing fabulous beasts in rocky landscapes, interspersed with small prunus blossom and butterflies; the upper and lower registers with further cartouches depicting garden scenes, with blooming chrysanthemum, peony, magnolia and other assorted flowers emerging from rockwork, interspersed with butterflies and beasts; all against green cell and diaper grounds, the flared rim and footrim with bands of geometric pattern.
