Chinese famille verte armorial saucer dish, c.1717, Kangxi (1662-1722), decorated in the centre with the arms of Fenwick (per fess gules and argent six martlets counterchanged a mullet for difference) within a band of stylized flames and floral cartouches, the cavetto with the crest (a phoenix in flames proper) and a garland of stylized foliage,

Fenwick of Northumberland were a merchant family from Newcastle-upon-Tyne with their family seat in Brenkley and Morpeth. The service was probably made for Mr. Fenwick, Chief Supercargo on the East Indiaman 'Marlborough' at Canton 1716.
